In Super Smash Bros. 4
Corrin is ranked as a B+ tier character in Super Smash Bros. 4. Compared to his fellow Fire Emblem fighters, Corrin is a breath of fresh air: he has a unique and powerful moveset that grants him many advantages. With an incredibly strong counter move that launches opponents upwards and a mixture of tippers and balanced attacks, Corrin is certainly a force to be reckoned with. His tilts are all quite fast, and each one launches its victim upwards for an easy up smash juggle startup. His smash attacks all have good KO potential, and Corrin can even immobilize opponents with his side special Dragon Lunge.
Unfortunately, Corrin struggles with several flaws, the majority of which are found in his AI. All three of his smash attacks have sweetspots at their tips, but Corrin’s AI makes no attempt to properly space itself. As a result, the character has trouble KOing without relying on Counter Surge. The AI also overuses its neutral special, Dragon Fang Shot, and tends to use Draconic Ascent on-stage at inappropriate times.
Overall, Corrin has achieved average tournament results and representation. As Corrin was a late edition to the metagame, his trainers were far and few between, though the character usually performed rather decently in competitions.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Compared to other fighters, Corrin has seen less direct changes, though is considered to have been nerfed from the previous title. Corrin’s few improvements include enhanced mobility and the ability to cancel Dragon Lunge; he also benefits from the extension of smash attack charging so that his forward smash can inflict more damage at close range.
However, Corrin’s nerfs are thought to outweigh his buffs; his double jump is shorter, his forward smash is weaker, and and Counter Surge deals much less knockback and thus cannot KO as easily. Furthermore, Dragon Fang Shot has more startup lag and deals less knockback while Dragon Lunge has more ending lag.
Despite his nerfs, Corrin is considered to be about on par with his Smash 4 iteration. His tournament results and representation are still somewhat lacking, so his true capabilities have yet to be fully realized.
